First Black naval Academy Graduate

Hi All,

Today the Washington Post has an article on Wesley A. Brown, the first black person to graduate from the Naval Academy. I can't get the link to work to the Post so here's another link with his picture.

Lee

Lieutenant Commander Wesley A. Brown, USN(CEC), (1927-____)
Wesley Anthony Brown was born in Maryland on 3 April 1927. He attended Dunbar High School in the District of Columbia, and was appointed to the Naval Academy as a Midshipman in 1945. Four years later, he graduated as a member of the Class of 1949, the first African-American to complete a Naval Academy education. Wesley A. Brown then entered the Civil Engineering Corps, rising to Lieutenant Commander before he retired from the Navy in July 1969.

This page features our only picture of Wesley A. Brown.
