Thanks for the reference to the 761st Tank Battalion website, An excellent website.

In the Photo Gallery there were several photos of Lyman Alexander, "Old Sarge", and his wife Charlene. They were named Man and Woman of the Year at the 2004 Reunion of the 761st.

It is with sadness that I inform readers of the passing of Lyman Alexander. Mr. Alexander continued his service to the country and community as a Boy Scout Leader, Church Deacon and as an advocate for troubled youth, particularly African-American males.

In December 2004 Lyman was interviewed by the Senior High School Research Class of Washington High School, Washington Court House, Ohio. His interview, along with that of about a dozen other African-American WW II veterans was part of a Library of Congress Interviewing project. The resultant interviews will be placed, for the record, in the Library of Congress
