Re: WANTED - African American WWII Reenactors
In Response To: Re: WANTED - African American WWII Reenactors ()
Hi: I am the oldest of three children of older parents. My dad was in WWII and he was Sargent Abner Randolph Steele. He studied Mechanical Engeenering at NC A&T State University in Greensboro,NC and was drafted before the beginning of his junior year. He served in the Rhineland offensive and saw action near Normandy and St Lo,France. He later on owned and operated Steel's Exxon along with my mom Jimmie Lue who was a teacher and a school librarian. He died from a series of strokes in late January of 2001 and I miss him every day. My mom is now a grandmother. My oldest brother got married three months before my dad died and he was very happy about this. My youngest brother is a media relations manager with a major teaching hospital in North Carolina and I am an educator. I have always been in itested in WWII and the role that both African-Americans and American Indians played in it. Please add me to your mailing list. thanks, Jane Steele.
