Re: Civil War query

Thanks for the reply. I did check the index at Ancestry.com before I found Walker at the CWSS site that particular visit for that particular site. In other words, the record at Ancestry for Walker led me to try the CWSS again even though I had no luck in the recent past with the CWSS site. I have been going there for better than six months, painstakingly going through each regiment in Ohio to see if anyone I had found in other records but lost after I found them once or twice. Again I was really excited because I finally made a connection with the information at Ancestry and the CWSS site. I entered just the surname GOINS, plus the state--and infantry-- to get a return of as many of the GOINS' as possible because I remembered that Walker had a brother James Edward who I had no luck finding after the 1860 Census schedule for Belmont County, Ohio which is located, according to OhioGenWeb, the southeastern part of the state.
I also understand that Ancestry has a Pension Index as well as a general index for military records. Unfortunately James has no identifying number as Walker does and I thought I would ask at this spot.
