I am still new to military research and Ancestry.com so I decided this is the best place to find those "magic" numbers associated with person who may have served in the military. I did notice what looks like a request for a pension and or the pension itself:
GOINS, James E.
Regiment Name : 17 U.S. Col'd Infantry
Side: Union
Company: C
Soldier rank in: PVT, Soldiers rank out: PVT
African American Civil War Memorial B-34
GOINS, Walker
Regiment Name: 17 U.S. Col'd Infantry
Side: Union
Company: D
Soldiers rank in : PVT, Soldiers rank out: PVT
See also Inv. Corps 101 U.S.C.I.
African American Civil War Memorial B-34
I know there was something done 19 August, 1890 and 5 September, 1911 for an individual in the state of Ohio. After many attempts I finally learned to use the CWSS site.
I think they were brothers.
