On his Notice of Separation From the U.S. Naval Service (Honorable Discharge), he had done foreign/sea service during WWII. He had also been trained in several areas at Hampton Institue, Great Lakes, Boston and Maine. His listed assignment: Motor Machinist (Diesel). Guess who was running and repairing those submarine engines during WWII? Why of course, African American men, including my dad. (SMILE)
