Chathay Williams served with the 38th Infantry regiment. She was much maligned her whole time in service. She did not serve out her enlistment of 3 years. Though she is heralded as a heroine of the “Buffalo Soldiers”, she did nothing to merit such praise. She was not a good soldier, male or female. She was discovered a female during one of her frequent trips to “Sick Call” and discharged from the service. Ms. Williams would how ever make a name for herself after her brief career in the military.
