An excellent exchange and your points are well taken, however, realizing the documents my friend and I retrieved and reviewed are a very small percentage of the total, I find it very strange the term "Buffalo Soldiers" was never listed.

If the term had been carried with honor and the men were proud to be called Buffalo Soldiers, I feel references would have been made in some of the documents, especially the pension records - for instance, "I was a Buffalo Soldier", "He was a Buffalo Soldier" or "They were Buffalo Soldiers".
