My information on the RUDD family is more in the realm of genealogy than military.

Daniel RUDD, an uncle to John & Benjamin, is credited as being a founder and organizer of the National Black Catholic Congress. If you're interested I have an outline chart on seven (7) genrations of some descendants of Robert (1800-????) and Elizabeth Hayden (1814-1873) RUDD, the grandparents of John & Benjamin RUDD.
