White Lies: Interview with Brooks Simpson

Hi Bennie:

As always you confuse the argument with facts. Thanks so much for your scholarship and research regarding the history of African Americans in the Civil War.

I cannot understand the pathological fascination of a few Blacks who romance their ancestors' "support" of the confederacy. My allied ancestors served in the Louisiana Native Guards and later in the Corps D'Afrique. They knew all too well that the boys who created the confederacy feared them and wanted to enslave them again. The laws enacted against free people of color prior to the Civil War forced many of them to flee to Mexico and the Caribbean.

Below is a link to an interview with Civil War historian, Brooks D. Simpson. The interview is from the Southern Poverty Law Center's Intelligence Report. The Report is entitled, "White Lies". His comments are chilling.
