You might want to double check that, as the 'OVI' designation for Ohio infantry units was dropped at approximately the same time the 9th Separate Batallion was formed. The 9th Separate Bn. was part of the 372nd Infantry in WW1. I've viewed records, etc. from this unit dating back to it's formation, and have not seen 'OVI' used on any of their period documents from any time between the 1880's and 1917. As a rule of thumb OVI regiments/batallions are Civil War, and the 9th would have been a white unit formed early in the war. Regards, Jim Ball
