============Research Assistance Needed=============
My maternal Uncle, Millard Ulysses Bell, (1879-1927)) is said by family to have died mysteriously in New York State in the process of re-enlistment in the Army Medical Corps. We have not been able to obtain his full file of military service because "the records burned". Family talks of his having some "difficulty" while serving in France. Was reported to be scheduled for enrolled at West Point.
My mother, Etta Augusta Bell Benham, was one of his five sisters who recd death benefits in about 1928. How can we obtain the records on which such disbursement was based?
Any pointers will be much appreciated. To my knowledge he was never married and had no children. Milton is buried in the Gaines Cemetery in Choccolocco, Calhoun County, Alabama.
Thanx Muchly
