“Turning risk into promise,” is what Director My Lia Tenner calls the motto of the new Charles Young Military Academy in St. Paul.

Colonel Charles Young was born March 12, 1864, in Mayslick, Kentucky. Young was educated by his grandmother at the age of eight and graduated high school at the age of 16. After graduating high school, Young won a placement in West Point through examinations, and by the time he graduated from West Point, he had earned the title of Second Lieutenant of Cavalry, Armed Forces of the United States.
