To the Community Scholars and others interested in oral history:
Several Community Scholars expressed interest in interviewing veterans for
the Veterans History Project when we meet at Fort McClellan on Sept. 18.
According to my notes they are Lori, Diane, Susan, Charles, Deborah, Trudy,
Anna, Fannie and Tatum. To make that happen you would probably have to miss some of Saturday afternoon's programming (the Tuskegee Airman talk and the German POW talk) and you would have to learn about the program and download needed materials from http://www.loc.gov/folklife/vets/kit.html. McClellan can provide the interviewing rooms and I can help with recording equipment if you don't have it. Plus we will find the veterans who want to be
interviewed. If any Community Scholars or other folks on the Alabama
Folklife list are interested and willing to commit the time to learn the
process and do the interviews, please let me know. You can reply to the
whole list by clicking on "Reply" or can respond to me personally at
joycecauthen@charter.net.
I do need to hear from you soon so I will know to reserve the interviewing
rooms and to line up the informants.
