I have read this book over and over, and I did enjoy it. Howard Meyer is the one who introduced Higginson, you know. What Meyer said concerning he had no idea at one time that Blacks served in the Civil War as soldiers is very much the same way that a lot of other people, black and whites, who believed that then and some still do not believe it.
