Hello Military Historians:
I found the enclosed webpage about Langston Hughes. It includes his poetry written during the Spanish Civil War. The page mentions the Lincoln Brigade.
How many African-Americans served in the Lincoln Brigade in the Spanish Civil War? Was the brigade integrated?
I'm intrigued with this little known history about Blacks fighting in Spain. Most Americans make the connection to Hemingway and that seems socially acceptable. But were Blacks viewed the same way?
Enjoy the poetry
