I recently completed reading "BLOOD FOR DIGNITY: The Story of the First Integrated Combat Unit in the U.S. Army" by David P. Colley, 2003,St. Martin's Press ISBN 0-312-30035-2
This is a good read, in that it tells the fascinating piece of World War II American history as experienced by the African American warriors of 5th Platoon, K Co., 394th Regiment, 99th Division. The men of the 5th of K combat performance is well told as experienced by,namely Waymon Ransom, Lester Boudreau, Sam Wade, Bernard Bailey, Arthur Holmes, Clayton Des Journette, Lawrence Boris, Thomas Branch, David Skeeters, Harold Robinson, and also men from the 5th of E Co, 393rd.
A worth while book to add to a personal library.
