Can someone recommend alternative WWI Veteran Resource Information?

My grandfather was a WWI PFC in the 92d, 317th Engineers Regiment.

Haven't been able to obtain his file from the Personell Records Ctr. in St. Louis, which I was told was destoyed in the fire in the 70s.

I'd really like to know where he was enlisted, trained and his service record; and more about his parents (my g-grands) & his family.

Anything would be appreciated.
