Here's an article about the case to clear the name of Henry Vinton Plummer, a former slave and the first black chaplain in the United States Army. He was discharged for conduct unbecoming an officer for supposedly fraternizing with black enlisted men.

The Governor of Maryland signed on to the case this week at the request of Plummer's descendents. There was a similar story in the Washington Post a few days ago.
