Franklin Williams Co. B., 108th USCT
Hi Everyone,
I saw this for auction on ebay today. maybe the information can help someone knock down a brick wall:
Nice discharge of colored/negro soldier Franklin Williams Co. B., 108th United States Colored Troops. Mustered in 6/23/64 as a Private and was discharged 3/21/66 at Vicksburg, Mississippi. His occupation when enrolled is listed as that of a farmer, which probably means that he was a former slave. The 108th USCT was organized at Louisville Kentucky in June of 1864. Until January of 1865 they held Garrison & Guard duty. They saw action at Owensboro Ky, on 10/22/64. Guard duty at Rock Island Ill Jan. to May 1865. Duty in the Dept. of Mississippi to 3/21/66. A very hard to obtain document.
