I am also wondering whether Edward R. Pierce, chaplain to the 55th U. S. Colored Infantry Regiment is the same Edward R. Pierce who served in the 67th Illinois Infantry Regiment, organized at Camp Douglass in Chicago on June 13, 1862, for three months.
