I am interested in the Reuben Simms Mason book. Has it been published? How might I obtain a copy? My g-g-grandfather was Edward R. Pierce, chaplain to the 55th colored regiment (1st Ala). I am trying to understand something of his experience, and also wonder how officers were recruited for this regiment. That is, Edward is from Illinois, and I can't fathom how he got to Mississippi. Any assistance much appreciated!
