George L. Gaines & Croix de Guerre

I have a booklet from 1918 that has info on a military training camp that was held at Wilberforce University. I've posted names and bios on the main forum, but wanted to highlihgt this one here:

George L. Gaines
The subject of this sketch is a graduate of the Coomercial School at the Normal and Industrial Department. Principal, Commercial School, Ga. State College; Record Clerk, C.N.&I. department, Wilberforce, Ohio, which position held until his sense of duty led him to resign and enter the Officers' Training School at Camp Funston. Mr Gaines was graduated from the Officers' School with rank as 2nd Lieut. He went over seas as a member of Co. G. 365th Infantry, 92nd Division.
Word recently coming from France advises that Lieut. Gaines for various service has been decorated with the Croix de Guerre and promoted to 1st Liuetenancy.

Hope this helps someone,
Lee Cook
