I noted in the information about Wilson Brown that the last ship noted on which he served was the Adolph Hugel. This ship was a 269 ton schooner purchased by the US Navy for use as a mortar schooner. Her main armamment consisted of a gigantic 13 inch coast mortar and two little 32 pounder deck guns for close in defense. Farragut used them widely for poounding reb strongholds into submission. Many photos of mortar schooners like her can be easily found and Wilson Brown own photo is found in the group of heroes assembled for a photo shortly after the action at Mobile Bay---so soon afterwards, in fact that some of the guys in the photo still wear their bandages.
As an additional note---I understand that the National Archives entry for the place of enlistment for Wilson Brown is " Mississippi River New Orleans"
