Re: USCT Memorial In Wash DC - Plaques ??

Hello,

My CW ancestor, Peter Allen, is also listed on a plaque (#B-48). He served with the 32nd Reg't Co. "K" of the USCT. This was an Infantry unit and there is a star behind his name. I have the same thoughts as you, that the symbol might represent the type of unit the individual served with .... Infantry, Cavalry and/or Artillery.

parent message:

Art, my gg-gfather's name is there and I will be going to pay my respects.
The only thing that comes to mind about those symbols, are that maybe each one is for either the infantry , cavalry or artillery. Showing how each man served.
