Watching the video of the ceremony made tears of pride well up in my eyes. Not only for these elderly gentlemen heroes overlooked so long by history, overshadowed by the Tuskeegee Airmen, Jackie Robinson, Martin Luther King. One of the gentlemen heroes is my cousin's husband, Asa W. Foster, Jr., born 1924. His daughter posted on her FB page that his poor health prevented him from making the trip to the historic ceremony. His family is very proud of him. Not only will he and his fellow former Montford Marines receive a Congressional Gold medal, but their spouses will also receive a bronze replica. Asa's spouse is Ruth (Walker) Foster.
