For those who might not be aware www.Ancestry.com is offering FREE access in support of the CW150 sesquecentennial celebration 7-14 Apr 2011. In this regard they have uploaded new & updated record sets of Union and Confederate CW records.

One of the record sets which 'blew' my mind is the U.S. Civil War Draft Registration Records 1863-1865. These records are searchable by Name, State, County & Race. I found 6,024 AA males in the State of Ohio who were registered which included many ancestors, collateral and extended family members simply by entering County, State & Black. This is almost like a mid-decade census record for AA males ages 18-45 between 1860-1870.
