Thanks for sharing the history of the First MA. Every USCT Regiment/Unit has an amazing history.

I'm sure that you are aware of the scholarship of author, Bennie McRae. He as you may remember was the manager of the AfriGeneas Military Forum.

His website lists the "Firsts" of African American units in the Civil War. His book "Nineteenth Century Freedom Fighters..." memorializes the First South Carolina (later the 33rd).

It's interesting to note that you also rely on Higginson's book.
