The card on the film copy of the index is pale, but I could see that he belonged to 'H' co., 4th US Colored Heavy Artillery.

When I checked the other major pension index, T - 289, the 'organizational' one, I could read that the widow's application was #853051, filed in 1906. There is no certificate number.
