I have posted this before, but just in case some of you missed it. The record center on Page in St Louis Mo is in the process of relocating to another building within the city/County. As we speak, records are being packed and made ready to go in 2011 and 2012. You know when you move, sometimes you find stuff that was lost and no telling what happens to other info. IF you had requested records at one time and nothing was found TRY AGAIN. ANYTIME you send off for information--if you receive a phone call from the center--get name, date, and conversation topic. KEEP it with YOUR papers. IF you get copies of records MAKE 2 copies of everything, give one set to a trusted individual, put other information on a CD. Ex. I got a copy of a relatives medical records back BEFORE 911 happened. Many years later I went to VA to get help with confirming information found. They requested copies. The center sent back no records available. I pulled out my copies, the VA copied and gave me another set. I'm ready for anything now. IF you are looking for information for BENEFITS, and this is a key word, request this always. If you are thinking about requesting copies of records for yourself or a relative, do so NOW. I can't tell you how important procrastination will cause a downfall in your quest for information. There was a fire many years ago that destroyed some records. BUT what ever is left, any scrap of burnt paper found, during this move may just be a part of a puzzle. The government microfilms everything, then I have no idea what is done with papers, or scraps afterwards.
