A new documentary hits the airwaves just in time for Memorial Day.
“For Love of Liberty” focuses on the little known history of African American soldiers, from the American Revolution to present time.
“These guys fought and preserved against overwhelming odds, not just in the military, but in life in general, in the concept [and] in the pursuit of this concept of liberty,” Director and Producer Frank Martin said.
The documentary also includes women who’ve served throughout various wars.
“Often times women’s stories aren't told and you only hear from the male veteran, or you hear about the warrior, and you never think that that warrior could be a she,” Center for Women Veterans Betty Moseley-Brown said.
“For Love of Liberty” airs Sunday at 1 p.m. on KLRU. That's Time Warner Cable Channel 9, or 1541 in High Definition.
