Just wanted suggestions on researching an ancestor who was conscripted in to the Confederate side, became a prisoner of war and then joined the Union. I am specifically looking for some type of prisoner roster for the Union
prison camp in Rock Island, Ill. at the beginning of the Civil War. I do have his pension records.
