I have been trying to locate a path to my father for the past 50 years or so. His name is Joseph W Patterson and he was born about 1919 in Louisville Kentucky. He registered for the military service in 1942 at Indiana. [ I have a copy of his registration from Ancestry.com]

The last correspondence my mother [who is deceased] had from him was in December 1943. I was born in May 1944. I have no information as to whether he is alive or not. I did find his birth family in the census and plan at some point to try and locate family members.

My dad was a member of the Redball Express and I have recently been motivated to get some history on that unit. I was so pleased to find a photo of him with that unit while searching old newspapers on line. I also have a picture of him with my mom.

I am told that he went by the name of "Pat" Patterson.
Where do I go from here?
Any help appreciated.
