Sons of the American Revolution

Greetings all:

Many of you who are researching your Louisiana Creole Ancestry might not know that Louisiana participated in the American Revolution as early as 1776 to 1783. And that the Spanish Governor/General - Bernardo de Galvez (
http://bdgsar.org/galvez.html
) who led several thousands regular Spanish military troops and Louisiana Militia groups made up French, German, Irish, Americans, Creoles/Free persons of color and Slaves in at least four major campaigns which also led to the successful defeat of the British Forces during this time period. Here is a little bit of that history

And because of those who served under the command of General Galvez's during this period of time, they too can be honored as American Revolutionary War Patriots by their descendants who have researched their lives and have documented their ancestral lineage to these SAR Patriots.

In Jan 2010, New chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution will be established in Natchitoches Parish, La and will be called Natchitoches Chapter, SAR. To celebrate the start of this new chapter's beginning, a Patriot Grave Marker on the grave of Jean Pierre Emmanual Prudhomme in American Cemetery will be placed. About four other individuals so identified as American Revolutionary War Patriots will be honored also. They are Jean Baptiste Ailhaud, Remy Lambre, Claude Thomas Pierre Metoyer, and Antoine Prudhomme.

Any descendants of either of these men who can trace and properly document their ancestral lineage to either of them could be eligible to be inducted into the National Society, Sons (Men) or Daughters (women) of the American Revolution.

Yes there is an application process, however, I know with the research many of you have done or currently doing to prove your ancestral lineage to one of the more well known Louisiana Progenitor of The Metoyer family- Claude Thomas Pierre Metoyer, this should not be a problem for you. Here is a link to help you get started with connecting your family tree to him.

What better way to honor your Louisiana French, Spanish German and Creole Ancestor who participated and served under General Galvez as a American Revolutionary War Patriots, then to be come a member of one of these two societies.

I ask as many of you who live in Natchitoches Parish, La or know of family and friends there to please plan to be in attendance. This is truly something to witness and become a part of.

I look forward to seeing this chapter grow once each of you take that initial step to honor your SAR ancestor by joining and becoming a member. Become a part of history once again in Natchitoches Parish, La.
