Thanks Art for referring the AfriGeneas Military Researchers to Bennie McRae’s website. Historians throughout the globe recognize Bennie as the eminent scholar of the history of the US Colored Troops, and Blacks in the Civil War. I’ve read the postings of this person before. His erroneous, unfortunate but deliberate posts about the myth of Black SOLDIERS in the rebel confederate army are transparent. The poster has gleaned most of this crypto history from neo-confederate websites and books. A search of the AfriGeneas Military Forum will produce documented evidence against this myth. Therefore Footnote is very suspect to allow this on its site. Even worse is the National Archives as its digitizing partner. The National Archives belong to all of us. Its staff of historians and archivist could easily disprove these silly myths. Shame on them. I have no intention of wasting my time ticking through and correcting his nonsense. I will comment on his opening statement, which, like the rest of his postings, is historically incorrect. Blacks in the Americas, including Blacks in the military pre-date 1619. Please click on the AfriGeneas link below: http://www.afrigeneas.com/forum-fpoc/index.cgi?md=read;id=8159 Thanks again, Art. All I can add is the link to the Southern Poverty Law Center and its interview with historian, Brooks D. Simpson, entitled “White Lies.” K Wyer Lane
