Since you have your father's discharge papers perhaps you are putting "too much" information into your search parameters. Granted, he should be there.

I have been fortunate enough to find some individuals who were mis-indexed by broadening my search to only State, County & Negro Citizen.....no name, or other identifying information. It makes for a more painstaking review of more records, but it may be a solution.
