Re: 372nd Infantry WW1 capsule history

All four regiments of the provisional 93rd Division received a regimental award of the CDG and all carried the ribbon on their colors, however, it appears that only the 370th was authorized to wear the fourragere. The documented/ID'd uniforms that I have seen from the 4 regiments seem to bear this out.

As far as the flag is concerned, the 157e DI and all components thereof (with the possible exception of the 2e Genie [2nd Engineers], who were transferred to another division about 4 months before the 371st and 372nd were added)are long disbanded. In such an instance I am unsure what the French government's policy would be for issuing a replacement. I have often suspected that Gen. Goybet was stretching his authority a bit by giving the flag to the 372nd, so it may not even be possible.

Several years ago I made a full size replica which we use with our museum displays, etc. If any of you happened to see Richard Ford's interview on Good Morning America, which was done at the NARA openhouse a few months ago, you would have seen the replica flag hanging in the background.
