Hello, I am hoping that some one can shed some light on this subject for me. When did the US Navy officially begin to segregate? You see black and white sailors serving together during the Civil War but around the Spainish-American War through WWI this ends,,why? Did the Navy completely segregate by World War One or did it still allow black sailors to serve alongside whites as long as they were stewards?
When did the first blacks serve in the Marine Corps.?
