Hello,

How can I obtain information or get county records on my ancestor?
I have called the Lenoir County Register Of Deeds in Kinston and was told that they could not send this information by mail. They would let me look at the WWI book, if I came down. I live in Texas. They are prohibited from giving this info by phone too. My ancestor died in 1920, so I don't understand why his information is so private. any ideas? I just want to know if he is listed in the book. He served in France.
