Tom, Was Dr. Bass with the 371st when he was KIA? If so, that ties up a loose end for Richard and I. According to our research he had been among the 74 Black officers that Tupes had removed from the 372nd in early September. We have been unable, thus far, to find where he (or the majority of the others not discharged) was sent afterwards. Also, records we received from the Historian of the Ohio ARNG list Phillip Magnus Johnson, MRC, as a Captain. He had been in command of the Medical Detachment, 9th Separate Bn., ONG before the war. When the 372nd was formed he became part if it's Medical Detatchment, where he remained until relieved in 09/18. Jim Ball
