Re: Homeschooling and Genealogy

Hi Landra - Sorry for the delayed response. "So did Joshua complete his first 'tree'?" I don't think I could call what we did a 'tree', but we did make a sad, convoluted chart that has everyone on it! I think I've decided to get the software that will set everything up for us...our 'branches' are all over the place! "In terms of what information you and your son have already come up with, where are you? I mean are you looking at great-grandparents and looking for their parents or what. I need to figure out what you are looking for to best provide you with assistance or guidance as to how to find answers to your next set of questions." I sat down and tried to describe where we are in our search...I think I can say it this way -- we are six generations back. (I get lost in the 'great-great-great' lines of description!) We are at my husband's maternal grandmother's grandparents. Paternally, we are at his grandparents and a brick wall. On my side, my maternal side is pretty mapped out (from a distant cousin's compilation as far back as we all already knew). Knowing beyong my great-grandparents would be a gift, though. Paternally, we are as far back as my father's paternal grandparents. Even less so on the maternal side. So, that's where we are and yes, we want to know more. I hope this answers your questions adequately so that you may further guide us. Anything you need to know to get a better picture, shoot! Thanks, Lisa and Joshua Landra
