Re: Homeschooling and Genealogy
In Response To: Re: Homeschooling and Genealogy ()
I'm homeschooling my ninth grader and we have used genealogy related lessons at several points in her education. In addition to the ideas mentioned by others, let me share a few:
4th or 5th grade- "Historical fiction" such as the "Addie" series in American Girls (all major bookstores). Or, you can go right to books like "Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry".
8th grade- She researched the Oral History process and completed an interview with her grandfather.
9th- We are going on a field trip to the NC Archives. Any body with ideas for how we can make the most of this trip, please respond. I am relatively new to the more formal aspects of genealogical research. We have 1. family sheets
2. a list of some estate boxes
3. a rough time line
