Need Information For Book--Elmwood
![]() Hello, my name is Valerie Bradley-Holliday. I recently published a book entitled: Northern Roots (African Descended Pioneers in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan). I am posting to your Web Site in the hopes that someone may recognize one or all of these individuals (refer to the list). I am writing a book about an African American community that they were a part of called, "Elmwood." which was located in the Ottawa National Forest of Michigan. The community was presented in Theresa A. Singleton's "I, too, Am America" from an archeological standpoint. I want to add that the individuals that I listed came from Chicago, Illinois prior to coming to Elmwood, Michigan (a location in the Ottawa National Forest) to farm and cut pulpwood. Anyone who can help me find information on any of these individuals is greatly appreciated. Please feel free to contact me at vbradhol@msn.com. Cherry Donaldson born around 1879; reported origin North Carolina.
These individuals all are reported as living at Elmwood. Anyone with any information about these people or incidents about their experiences in Elmwood Community can send information to my E-mail at vbradhol@msn.com.
