Photograph of Col. Ben Turner, born in Slavery in North Carolina. Later became U.S. Representative from Alabama 1st District, 1871-73; defeated, 1872; delegate to Republican National Convention from Alabama, 1880. Died in Selma, Alabama March 21, 1894.
