Doug Harger's research states that the Carlos Finley who married Effie Goings was the son of Earl S. and Carrie (Stewart) Finley. Interesting about James and Gideon Hill living near Randolph Finley in Wythe County, VA. My great great grandmother, Henrietta Hill Maxwell was married in Botetourt County in 1833. That is not that far from Wythe, so James and Gideon may have been her relatives. Her father was Joshua Hill. Were your Scotts related to Thomas Scott? Joshua had another daughter, Ann Eliza Hill who married a Thomas Scott in Botetourt County in 1834. They were related in some way to the family of William and Lieuvenia (Hockaday) Mumford, who lived near Samuel and Mary in Defiance County, Ohio in the 1870 census. Interesting about the Rumley re-unions, Art. I'm sure that some of those people could have explained the various family relationships in a few minutes and saved their descendants many hours of research. Messages In This Thread
