The Micheaux surname looked familiar to me in another context and I wonder ......could there be a connection?

Oscar Micheaux's birth year 1884 is 177 years away from a Micheaux relationship to a family in Henrico County and Prince William Parish in VA that connects to a family that once "owned" some of my ancestors. The family of Rene LaForce.

It seems the Micheaux and LaForce families, both of French Huegenot origin settled along the James River ca 1695-1700. There is a recorded land deal (1707) involving an Abraham Micheaux and a Rene LaForce for property along both sides of the Manakin Town Creek.
Manakin Town was the name of an early Huegenot settlement. I have traced my ancestors back to the LaForce family during this time frame.

Oscar Micheaux's Bio states he was 1 of 11 chiildren of former slaves. Could they be desecndants of Micheaux slaves and could they trace back to Abraham and Susanna Micheaux of Henrico County, VA?

Interesting questions that I won't be following up on.
