David Michaux/Micheaux: "...My father, however, came from Kentucky and inherited the name from his father who was sold off into Texas during the slavery period and is said to be living there today." Source: shorock.com - Micheaux Papers
An initial search for "David Micheaux/Michaux/Mich*" provided no results. However, there is a very interesting Michaux VA/KY/TX connection.
There are two Calloway county, Ky Michauxs in the 1850 Slave Schedules - Joseph W. Michaux and W.M. (William Macon) Micheaux.
William Macon Michaux (born VA), died in Palestine, Anderson county, TX abt 1853.
In the 1860 Slave Schedules, "Narcisse Michaux" is listed as a slave holder, with 22 enslaved in Palestine, TX.
- 1850 ---- 1860 ----
Narcisse is still there in 1870, 1880, and 1900, where a 58 yr. old "Matilda" Micheaux is living with the 80 year old N. Micheaux. Also listed are children Macon Micheaux and Eppie Campbell.
