Examples of diabetes mellitius in the family
In Response To: Using Genealogy Records - More Than Names/Dates
(Art Thomas) ... and what we can learn is that more often than not so it goes with so may African American Ancestors we research. We genetically diabetic descendants need to be in the front beating the drums to turn this "self destructing" disease upside down. My maternal grandfather, Richard Bell 1845-1892 succumbed to diabetes. My eldest son, Slater Hunter King, Jr 1950-2000 slept away in his sleep. He was a diabetic. A significant number of BELL families have members who are amputees. I am diabetic. It is interesting and amazing that we collectively spend into the millions to DNA our beginnings. Billions in support of the diabetic industry. Billions more in the food industry, in the fad diet industry yet may few cents [sense] to what we eat. How will we ever learn?
