Re: Rickman
In Response To: Re: Rickman (Douglas S. HARGER)
In my ongoing quest to locate my family lines, I stumbled upon a death certificate for James Monroe Rickman. His father's name was Abram Rickman and his mother's name was Telisa Elaus. Both parents were from Tennessee. This James Monroe was born 4/7/1843 and died 2/26/1916 in Greenville, Darke Co. Ohio. Seems too close to be simply a coincidence between Abner and Telitha (Elam) Rickman and Abram and Telisa. In the 1880 Census there is a "Monro" Rickman born in Tennessee, living in Washington, Darke Ohio at the time and his mother's name was spelled Telillia. He was born according to this census sometime around 1846. He is listed as a mulatto, widower with children. Lastly, there is a Monroe Rickman in the 1850 Census records, listed with a Talitha Elam. Listed with him are Sally, Hannah, William and Cary Rickman. Also found there are Phillan (sp) Elam, Elizabeth Elam and William P Elam. There are two other small children, one named Tob and the other Manerva Annis. All listed as mulattoes under one family grouping from Tennessee. So it looks like possibly: Telitha is; Talitha - Telisa -Telillia
See: Name: Monroe Rickman
