Info on John B Dawson VA IL ?
We are trying to find information of John B Dawson who was a minister with the AME church in the late 1800's. We just found out that we have black heritage in our family. Our grandfather, Bartley Dawson, passed himself as white to his family his whole life. He has been deceased since 1985. He never told anyone he was black until we did some research and found his family mostly listed as Mulatto's. We have been very interested in finding out more about John B Dawson, his wife was Julia A. Can you help? he was born in Virginia in 1820, and later came to Illinois, later moving to Chicago.
